Prof. R. Lakshmi Narasimhan is the Director and Professor of Neurology, Madras Medical College. He is the recipient of the Dr. M. Krishnamoorthy medal and Dr. V. Varadarajan award for the best outgoing student in Tamil Nadu state. He has been the organizer of SHINE conference for 8 consecutive years. He was the Editor of ‘Reviews in Neurology’, 2015 – 2020. He has been the CME Convenor for Indian Academy of Neurology 2015-2020. He is the editor for Dejong’s The Neurologic Examination South Asian Edition 2019, Localization in Clinical Neurology by Paul W Brazis. South Asian edition, and Practical Neurology by Jose Biller, South Asian edition and has edited 10 books in neurology. He has published more than 100 articles in national and international journals, six Cochrane reviews and 20 chapters in books. He has received the A.B BAKER AWARD for the ‘Global Best Teacher in 2009, and several other awards and accolades. He is the state nodal officer for stroke in Tamil Nadu, under the TAEI program- SCRIPT initiative. In Government General Hospital Chennai, he has established Neurocritical care Unit and Immunotherapy unit. He created self-help group called Empowerment of Women with Epilepsy.He has been instrumental in starting the “Demyelination Clinic”, in the Institute of Neurology,Madras Medical College ,Chennai.
